You have a (inner) child

I don’t want children and yet when my therapist shared this thought, it HIT ME HARD. Some of the thoughts that we explored in therapy were tough pills to swallow, but I still use them as my guiding stars today:

  1. You have a child. It’s you. Picture your little face at a specific age, and know that you are that child’s parents. Every decision you make has to ensure the safety of that child.

  1. When you feel rubbish, it’s important to give yourself time to feel your feelings. BUT put a timer on for later or the next day, and when it goes off, you MUST take action to move on.

  1. Your confidence is YOUR responsibility. This isn’t just about appearance—this is knowing that if anything didn’t go as planned, you have trust in yourself to confidently take a different course of actions.

  1. If you get your HIGHS from the validation of others, you will become an addict. Any critical feedback will feel like a major COMEDOWN! So don’t depend on the highs.

I’m 32 now, and I have never cared for and loved who I am more than I do now. I finally feel liberated, accountable for my actions (which gives me power to make changes) and aligned with nature.
